ἐ-γένετο aor² γίνομαι come about, happen; an introductory formula consisting of ἐγένετο + temporal clause + finite vb, common in LXX as representing Hebr. equivalent of “and it came to pass that when...’’ sth happened §388, 389, n.l. ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις at that time. ἐ-βαπτίσθη aor. pass. -τίζω. εἰς instead of ἐν in a local sense §99f. || εὐθύς (to be taken w. εἶδεν) favourite word of Mk, not to be stressed, often no more than so then, and then. ἀνα-βαίνων ptc -βαίνω. σχιζομένους ptc pass. σχίζω split, tear, divide. περιστερά dove. κατα-βαῖνον ptc neut.
